Pursuant to Article 7/d-2 of Higher Education Law No. 2547, as amended by Law No. 2880, and in accordance with the decision taken at the Executive Board meeting of the Council of Higher Education dated 04/08/1999, the İznik Earthquake Damage Mitigation Research and Application Center was transformed into a service center affiliated with the Directorate of Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as the “Center”).
